About us

Specialist Crime Solutions work at international, national, regional and local level, specialising in all aspects of crime and anti-social behaviour. Working with police, local and national governments and the community sector, SCS have a proven track record of providing deliverable and sustainable crime reduction solutions, from national legislation and policy, to  regional and local strategies.

Mick Hurley OBE and Ian McGibbon MBE are the driving force behind SCS.  They have a proven track record in managing local delivery, developing regional policy for statutory services and have both been advisors within The Home Office  developing national policy and legislation on violent crime. Their wide remit includes:

influencing national policy and legislation

recognised national experts on organised crime, street gangs and gang injunctions

multi sector training

delivering key Government programmes on violent crime

speaking at national and international conferences on violent crime

SCS believe that dismantling the barriers between organisations and sectors, we can unlock entrenched and seemingly intractable criminality to bring together partners to make a difference in local communities.

SCS offer specialist expertise to Government departments, Police & Crime Commissioners, police forces, task groups,  local authorities, health services and the third sector. This expertise is evidence based, innovative and up to date, enabling direction and delivery in rapidly changing environments.

SCS deliver tailor made packages focusing on specific local issues by profiling the problem, then developing strategic vision to tackle the issues, and engaging partners. We have a proven track record in translating this intelligence into local action plans with clear deliverables and tangible outcomes to meet local targets and goals.

SCS excel in navigating national strategy and legislation translating this into a regional and local response.

Most recently, SCS has been working with Greater Manchester Police (GMP) to develop The Organised Crime and Gang Strategy and the development and deployment of Programme Challenger, a fully integrated multi-agency response to organised crime.

In addition SCS has worked with the International Juvenile Justice Observatory to deliver a programme of work in Uruguay to senior police officers, partners and politicians on the development of a multi-agency response to gang violence.

SCS have an extensive network of contacts, ensuring on-going in-depth knowledge of current international and national development related to policing and crime.
